Membership Agreement | Smart School Councils ✅

Here’s what you agree to when you sign up to a membership at Smart School Councils.

As a charity [and a rather friendly bunch!], we’ve done our best to make this agreement clear, simple and teacher-friendly.


When does it start? 🕰️

For new members, this membership agreement comes into effect on the day of joining Smart School Councils.

For existing members, it comes into effect when you renew your membership with us.

What can you expect of us? 🏆

You can expect us to do what we promise.

Our aim is to provide a friendly and supportive membership experience that gives you a really clear path to improving and maintaining pupil voice in your school.

Most of us know have taught in schools before, and know how hectic things can get. It’s important to us to give you quick, clear direction and support to help you.

What does this look like? 👇🏻

  • Platform access to Smart School Councils for the duration of your membership. During this time, you can run as many class meetings as you’d like.

  • Guides and resources to set you up and help maintain an amazing Smart School Council.

  • Support via email, phone and online meetings.

  • A community space to share ideas and connect with other members

  • CPD to share ideas and practice among members.

  • We also occasionally run special celebration weeks for our members

  • If you sign up as a premium member, we offer an additional set up service in your first year to give you extra help to implement your Smart School Council.

What we ask of you as a member 💥

We ask you to act in a professional and friendly way to the team at Smart School Councils, and each other in our community. That means:

  • Not sharing your login details with other schools

  • Not reproducing content and sharing it with other schools

  • Not posting any inappropriate content

Membership fees 💳

Our membership is based on an annual fee to access the platform and the member benefits.

  • Essential Package - Starts at £399 per year.

  • Premium Package - Starts at £499 per year.

We also sometimes offer discounts to schools for signing up. This is usually for those schools who have contacted us and asked for a discount because they’re a very small setting or are in financial need.

We reserve the right to change our membership fees for any school at any point. For example, some of our first school members pay a lower annual membership.

Payment schedule 💳

Your renewal will be processed each year on the date of joining, unless you’d like to cancel.

Managing your membership 😭

Now members can manage their accounts more easily, including being able to replace lead teacher details themselves - all from the ‘Manage account’ link at the bottom of the homepage.

For more convenience, subscriptions will also renew automatically. Members will be reminded of this 7 days prior to a renewal date. To renew, you need to do nothing - yay! - your finance contact will receive the subscription, and you’ll continue to be able to access your account.

If you choose not to renew, you can simply click the link in the ‘renewal reminder’ email that you receive to cancel quickly and simply.

We give both new members and renewing members 30 days to change their minds and cancel subscriptions without any questions asked, and receive a refund.

If you want to cancel at any point after that time, you can do so in the ‘Manage account’ link on the homepage. At the end of your membership period, the account will cancel, and you won’t be refunded the subscription fee.

Your privacy 🙈

We won’t share your details or personal information about your school with other members, non-members or any third parties.

As a member school, we will include your school’s postcode on our Member Map which is available to other members. We don’t share any of your details. If you’d like us to remove you, please let us know.

Liability 👩🏽‍⚖️

You will not hold us liable for any tangible or intangible damage that might happen to your school while participating in Smart School Councils.
