Symphony Question: Which of these words best describes your return to school?

“Joy is the simplest form of gratitude.”

-Karl Barth

To cap off our final, although only third, Symphony Question of Spring term, we proposed to our member schools the question: Which of these words best describes your return to school?

As school’s have returned to the classroom after lockdown, we’ve been proposing Symphony Questions focused on checking in with students to reflect on their experiences returning to the ‘new normal’ of schooling. After covering how students felt returning initially, and which subjects they felt they needed the most support in, we wanted to cap-off the term with a reflection on how their return as a whole went. With the options ‘exciting, enjoyable, challenging, and overwhelming’ here’s what our member schools had to say:

Question: Which of these words best describes your return to school?

National result:

Result:

Overall, those schools who participated showed that most students have found their return to school to be an enjoyable experience. Virtually tied in second was challenging and exciting, with overwhelming coming in fourth.

What can we learn from these results?

The return to school it seems has been overall enjoyable for students. This is probably tied to a myriad of reasons from being able to get more support in school, getting to see their friends and classmates again, and just being able to have a bit of normalcy during another national lockdown.

What’s next?

Our Summer Term Symphony Question series will be launching on the 19th of April as schools return from Easter break. This launch is even more exciting given the updates to the Class Meeting Tool that are launching as well - including one-click Symphony Question set up! .
