Symphony Question: What time is it OK to wake up on Christmas Day?

As the end of December approaches ever steadily, we reflect on the chaos that consumed 2020 and the perseverance that we have all exhibited to get through the year. A lot of Class Meeting conversations this year addressed serious national and global issues - Who should get the first round of vaccines? Should classrooms apply stricter covid safety precautions? We figured that it would be nice for our final Symphony Question of 2020 to address a hot topic that is still very serious but much less intense than the previous: Christmas morning.
We asked member schools far and wide to ask their pupils: What time is it OK to wake up on Christmas Day?

The results are as any Christmas fanatic would dream- the earlier the better!
The most popular wake-up time with a decent lead is 6:00 am followed by 7:00 am in second, 8:00 am in third, and 9:00 am in last.
What can we learn from these results?
Breaking news! Young people are excited for Christmas.
Ok, it may not be breaking (or even news), but nonetheless it is supported by empirical data. While I’m sure that all participants had excellent reasoning for their responses, it appears that most students would prefer to wake up early on Christmas morning rather than sleep in. Personally, 6:00 am sounds pretty early to me, but students have faced various difficulties and challenges this year, so I don’t blame them for wanting to stretch Christmas day for as long as they can manage.
We are extremely grateful for all of our member schools who have participated in this week’s Symphony Question or any of the ones in the past. You all are awesome - and, as always, thank you for continuing to promote pupil voice!
